Job Description

Position Summary:

The Utility Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the hotel's public areas, back-of-house rooms, floor corridors, and other hotel spaces. This position supports the housekeeping department by transporting supplies, removing trash, assisting with setups/breakdowns, room deep cleaning, and ensuring cleanliness standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain hotel public areas, including hallways, guest room carpet, elevators, stairwells, and back-of-house areas.
  • Collect and remove trash and recyclables from hotel hallways, guest rooms, and service closets.
  • Replenish supplies in housekeeping closets
  • Assist housekeeping by delivering linen, amenities, or supplies to guest floors.
  • Operate floor care equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences to the manager or supervisor.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the housekeeping leadership team.
Qualifications
  • Prior cleaning and floor maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Individual who enjoys being around people and takes pride in a clean environment.
  • Ability to meet the expected performance standards for each task assigned.
  • Ability to speak effectively with guest and/or team members.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass company background screening and take annual training courses.
