Job Description
We are looking for UGM residents interested in Part-Time Grounds & House keeping services to join our team and make our campus clean and beautiful. This position will have many tools at their disposal for optimal maintenance. They should be able to maintain the appearance of our campus, indoors and outdoors.
Groundskeeping Responsibilities
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and landscape by keeping lawns manicured, hedges and bushes trimmed, pathways clear of debris, and fertilizing lawns, trees, and shrubs for a neat, tidy, professional appearance throughout the year for guests and employees to enjoy.
- Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions.
- Weatherproof areas, cover outdoor furniture with tarps, tie-down unsecured items.
- Maintain gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pesticides.
- Operate and maintain garden and landscaping equipment.
- Pick up trash on property and along street side of UGM.
- Power wash sidewalks and playground.
Housekeeping/Janitorial Responsibilities
Deep cleaning housekeeping routines such as:
- Stripping, mopping and buffing hard floors
- Shampooing, extracting and spot cleaning carpet and furniture upholstery
- Cleaning walls, dry erase boards and vents in meeting rooms, offices, and public areas
- Returning all furniture and equipment to their proper place in each common area and meeting space at the end of each business day
- Ensuring a safe and risk preventive environment within OSHA regulations.
Requirements and skills
- At least 1 year of proven work experience as a groundskeeper, janitor, or similar role
- Familiarity with sprinkler systems and other landscaping equipment
- Knowledge of gardening techniques
- Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods in wide-ranging temperatures and weather conditions
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
