Jewish Community Services is currently seeking a qualified Mashgiach / Kosher Cook to support the dietary needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a fully kosher residential group home setting. This position plays a critical role in ensuring meals are prepared in strict accordance with Kashrut laws and served in a clean, respectful, and person-centered environment.
Job Summary:The Mashgiach / Kosher Cook is responsible for preparing meals, maintaining kosher standards in the kitchen, and working collaboratively with residential staff. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of kosher food laws, strong organizational skills, and a compassionate, professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities:Kosher Meal Preparation: Prepare 21–33 meals per week using agency-approved kosher menus and recipes.
Kashrut Compliance: Monitor all aspects of food preparation and storage to ensure strict adherence to kosher standards, including ingredient inspection, utensil separation, and proper labeling.
Kitchen Sanitation: Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and kitchen surfaces after each use; maintain a hygienic, organized environment.
Respectful Engagement: Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors to foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere.
Meal Delivery: Deliver meals to other group homes when requested, ensuring timely and safe food transport.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory and report needs to ensure uninterrupted meal service.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with supervisors about menu compliance, supply needs, and any kashrut-related concerns.
Demonstrated knowledge of Kashrut laws and kosher food preparation (required).
Previous experience as a Mashgiach or kosher cook in a residential, institutional, or similar setting (preferred).
Ability to follow structured menus and recipes with consistency and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and cleaning practices, with a focus on food safety and kosher compliance.
Professional demeanor with the ability to engage respectfully with individuals of all backgrounds, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between group homes, if needed (preferred).
