Server/shift leader at Kishimoto on Commercial Drive

Kishimoto Japanese Restaurant is searching for a new server.
This position will start as a server, and after one to two months time will also include some basic shift leader duties when the supervisor/manager is off. We are a hard-working, close knit team and are looking for an enthusiastic, like-minded individual.

START DATE:
to start as soon as possible

SCHEDULE:
Must be available Tuesday Friday, and flexible on weekends.
Shifts will be 3 to 4 days/week, occasional 5 day week if needed
Shifts are approximately 4 to 6 hours/day, and start between 4:00 pm 5:00 pm.
*Training shifts may start earlier or be shorter or longer
*regular schedule will come into effect by mid to end of July

WAGES:
$17.85/hour + tips (server)
$18.85/hour + tips (shift leader)

JOB DUTIES:
Include but not limited to: taking dine-in orders, serving food and liquor, set up/clean up, using POS system and handling cash/card transactions, answering the phone, accepting take-out orders by phone and delivery app, packing orders, following health and safety practices, some hosting duties - using tablet to organize walk in diners and reservations, greeting and seating customers, ensuring customers have an enjoyable experience, occasional dishwashing/helping dishwasher, learning about food, wine & sake.

REQUIREMENT:
Prior serving experience
Serving it right certification
Able to multitask and function in a busy environment
Positive attitude and respectful of others
Enthusiasm and motivation to learn our menu changes often so there is lots to learn about!
Enjoys working in a small team and has good communication skills
English language skill level: fluent or intermediate level
Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident preferred, if work permit - must be able to work for approximately one year, longer is better
Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine not required but will be helpful

closed Mondays & Tuesdays
closed on some holidays like Christmas and New Year, some additional days
