Facility Attendant / Custodian (Part-Time)

This position performs routine manual work in cleaning, maintaining, and providing general upkeep of the Senior Center, Civic Center, and other Parks and Recreations facilities when assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Aquatics & Facilities Supervisor.
  1. Responsible for cleaning of parks and recreation facilities, included but not limited to, cleaning & sanitizing restrooms, offices, game rooms, and locker rooms, vacuuming, mopping and waxing floors.
  2. Performs janitorial and maintenance duties at the Civic Center and Senior Center, or other facilities as assigned.
  3. Completes daily facility maintenance inspection checklist.
  4. Provides support to park facilities and recreational program activities when needed.
  5. Assists with inventory of materials and supplies for the facility.
  6. Opens, closes, and secures assigned Parks & Recreation facilities.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary at other Parks & Recreation facilities.
  8. Regular in-person attendance, since face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees, outside colleagues, residents, or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located only in the workplace is required.

  • One (1) year work experience providing janitorial cleaning services for commercial facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of janitorial best practices and procedures
  • Ability to safely clean and organize facilities areas and set up tables/chairs when needed
  • Knowledge of basic facility maintenance practices and procedures
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to provide a very high level of customer service
  • Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other departments, community groups and the public
  • Knowledge of coordinating and implementing facility maintenance procedures
  • Ability to accept checks/fees/receipts for reservations for facilities use, camps, or programs after normal business hours occasionally
Essential Physical Skills:
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid)
  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
  • Ability to use computer, telephone, and collect fees
  • Extensive walking, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling
  • Ability to drive City vehicles
  • Must maintain valid Florida Drivers License.

  • Work is required both indoors and outdoors at City Parks and Recreation facilities. Normal work schedule is Monday-Friday evenings from 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm however some work will be required on nights, weekends, and holidays.
