Basic Purpose and Function

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the store, including the sales floor, offices, back rooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas. This role ensures that all areas are regularly cleaned and that trash is properly disposed of in accordance with company standards.

The salary range is $16.60 - $19.05 hourly. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor by sweeping, mopping, and buffing nightly; strip and wax floors as needed.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms daily, including floors and fixtures; restock paper products.
• Sweep and mop floors in back rooms, break rooms, and offices; empty trash receptacles in these areas.
• Empty all outdoor trash cans and maintain cleanliness of the outdoor trash disposal area.
• Clean the stores entrance area as required.
• Follow all company cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
• Perform all duties with honesty and integrity.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

1. Skills, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions

• Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Capable of pushing and pulling heavy floor-cleaning machines.
• Requires manual dexterity, coordination, and good balance.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and perform repetitive arm movements for extended periods.
• Proficient in using cleaning tools and equipment such as brooms, mops, mop buckets, and floor machines (buffing, stripping, waxing).
• Must be mentally alert to ensure safe and accurate completion of tasks.
• Willingness to learn and follow proper sanitation procedures.
• Exposure to cleaning agents, water, and occasional fumes from floor strippers and wax.
• Work is primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment, with occasional outdoor duties.
