Position Summary:
The Laundry Worker and Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines. This role ensures that all laundry and housekeeping duties are carried out efficiently and with attention to infection control standards, supporting the overall health and wellbeing of residents in a skilled nursing facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Laundry Worker Responsibilities:
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident laundry and facility linens.
- Operate and maintain commercial washers and dryers.
- Ensure proper labeling and return of resident clothing.
- Monitor inventory levels of laundry supplies and linens; report shortages.
- Follow infection control protocols and handling procedures for soiled linens.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area and equipment.
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and nursing stations.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and equipment.
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
- Dispose of trash and biohazard waste properly and safely.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
- Follow housekeeping schedules and documentation procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, bending, and reaching.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in housekeeping or laundry in a healthcare or nursing facility setting.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA regulations.
