Job Summary

The Lead Steward is dedicated to offering first-class service to our guests and supporting the seamless operation of all Food & Beverage (F&B) services across the property-including events, restaurant, bar, and meeting spaces. This position ensures the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all F&B service areas, storage rooms, and equipment. In addition to preparing event spaces, the Lead Steward also plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day F&B operations through inventory management, facility readiness, supply distribution, and interdepartmental coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Service & Property Representation

  • Act as an ambassador and representative for Los Poblanos, the Village of Los Ranchos, and the greater Albuquerque community.
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.

Support of Food & Beverage Operations

  • Support daily operations of all F&B outlets, including Campo restaurant, bar, tea service, library bar, meetings and banquets/events.
  • Ensure all event service areas (event spaces, restaurant storage, kitchen corridors, pantries, and prep rooms) are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely delivery and retrieval of food & beverage equipment and supplies across the property.

Event & Meeting Space Readiness

  • Participate in the setup and breakdown of all event and meeting spaces per the BEO and floor plan specifications.
  • Responsible for making event spaces visually appealing before and during events.
  • Be familiar with all upcoming event details and ensure bathrooms, dining tables, service stations, and supplies are ready prior to guest arrival.

Inventory, Storage & Supply Chain

  • Conduct regular inventory of F&B-related supplies including linens, tables, chairs, serviceware, glassware, flatware, and decorative items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, track usage, and place timely supply orders as needed (excluding alcohol).
  • Properly store, organize, and label F&B supplies for efficient access and cross-departmental use.

Communication & Administrative Support

  • Attend weekly BEO meetings and communicate relevant updates to all involved F&B teams.
  • Print and distribute event materials, diagrams, and signage to kitchen, service, and stewarding teams.
  • Coordinate and manage event signage creation and placement.
  • Support with administrative tasks related to the F&B schedule, events calendar, and team logistics.

Facilities Maintenance & Safety

  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of all F&B service areas including LQ building, Barn Commons Meeting Room, Campo and surrounding spaces.
  • Report all maintenance and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate department.
  • Address minor maintenance issues independently to ensure a safe and functional environment.
  • Ensure all associated areas maintain a clean and hazard-free working environment.

Transportation & Additional Support

  • Drive the guest shuttle and Los Poblanos trucks on an as-needed basis for F&B-related logistics.
  • Assist with transportation of food, beverages, decor, and equipment across departments and venues.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hospitality or F&B operations required.
  • Current Food Handler and Beverage Service certifications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass internal shuttle/truck driving test.
  • Strong knowledge of event and banquet setup, including audio-visual, furniture configurations, and service standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; must speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and manage high-volume or high-pressure situations.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor; must maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed presentation.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly and move equipment on carts (up to 200 lbs).
  • Comfortable with long shifts and weekend/holiday work schedules.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and familiarity with shared document management systems.
