Northwood Club is a premier country club established in 1946 and located in Dallas, Texas, best known for hosting the 1952 U.S. Open. We just re-opened our newly renovated PGA Championship Golf Course which was named #1 Best Golf Course Renovation in Avid Golfer Magazine. The club also has a Distinguished Clubs of the World Emerald Designation for outstanding member service. Our staff consists of a wide range of professionals who are well recognized in areas of Tennis, Golf and Culinary. We are currently looking for a part-time receptionist and child care attendant for our Wellness Facility.

Department: Fitness

Reports to: Director of Wellness, Assistant Director and Clubhouse Manager

Classification: Hourly and Non Exempt

General Purpose: Friendly, customer service oriented, and professional individual to provide services for members and guests. Answer phones to assist with general inquires and appointments on a daily basis. Perform basic clerical work and assist with child care when needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Welcomes members and guests, in person on the telephone; answering or referring inquires.
  • Provide continuous and courteous customer service to members and their guests
  • Answering phones in a timely manner, returning messages and confirming appointments.
  • Directs members and guests; giving instructions.
  • Maintains safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Light housekeeping duties required to wipe down machines and clean up child care room
  • Operate and maintain a safe, clean exercise and youth environment for all Northwood Club members
  • Thoroughly complete all reports during shifts
  • Enforce all rules and regulations
  • Receive incoming calls, answer questions, take messages
  • Establish positive relationships with members and children
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times
  • Assist with clerical work as assigned
  • Be extensively knowledgeable about and be able to answer questions related to all aspects of Wellness & Recreation Programs
  • Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager/Supervisor.
  • Attends staff meetings and training when required

Education/Experience: High school education; or up to one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Fluent English is required. Effective communication to members, staff and between departments is required daily. Professional language and vocabulary will be used at all times.

Mathematical Skills: May be required: to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability: May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one and two step instructions; to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Demands: Frequently sits; uses hands to finger, feel or handle; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, sits, talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds.

Certificates/Licenses: Must be at least age 18. First Aid, CPR & AED Certification, Child Abuse Awareness Training required.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the employee may be required to communicate with English speaking members or co-workers, the manuals for equipment the employee may use are in English).
  • Ability and knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, power point, outlook)
