Frito Lay's Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship program is designed to provide a pathway for students to become industrial maintenance mechanics. The program is designed to incorporate instruction on electrical and mechanical theory from a local technical school while gaining hands-on experience by working side-by-side with experienced mechanics. Students can expect to learn how to rebuild, repair, troubleshoot, fabricate, and operate industrial equipment.

The successful candidate will attend a local technical school, either York Technical School, Central Piedmont Community College, or other approved tech school. This position offers the ability to either work part-time, 16 to 24 hours a week, or gain full-time status with benefits if candidate averages 29 hours per week and the work hours will flex based on your class schedule. The candidate will attend all required trainings including Safety Programs and job-specific trainings. Frito Lay will provide all required personal protective equipment including safety boots, shirts and tools needed to complete tasks and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong performance, attendance, and academic standing with technical school program
  • Willingness to work 16 to 24 hours per week and to commit to a semester-long program
  • Must have at least 1 semester completed in the industrial maintenance or similar program
  • Must maintain enrollment in academic program with acceptable grades and on-the-job work performance & attendance while in program
  • Authorized to work in United States on a permanent basis
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
