Custodian - Full Time Year Rounds - Mt Blue Middle School

TITLE: CUSTODIAN

POSITION: Full-time, year round position; includes storm days, summer breaks, scrub weeks

IDENTIFICATION: This position is a 40 hour per week position; there may be some hours in excess of pre-established hours. The position is primarily a second shift position; there may be some required change to shifts based on district needs to cover leave requests and special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School graduate or GED preferred
2. Must have passed a physical exam directed by state requirements and comply with stipulations recommended by the districts examining physician.
3. Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
4. Ability to work safely with chemicals and equipment.
5. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees. Be a team player.
6. Self directed/ motivated.
7. Job requires physical ability to lift 40 lbs., stand, climb stairs and ladders, lift, push, pull, and bend for extended periods.

REPORTS TO : Operations Supervisor

POSITION GOAL : The goal of this is to provide a safe and clean learning environment enabling the students to take the fullest advantage of the district's total educational program. To respect the district and its personnel and represent it with the utmost professionalism.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Wear proper uniform attire and maintains serviceability
2. Be able to follow district policies; contractual obligations with professional attitude
3. Follow all necessary requirements of time clock procedures
4. Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
5. Must become CPR certified; and maintain certification throughout employment
6. Perform general custodial duties at the assigned location(s).
7. Provide an adequate custodial inventory of materials and supplies on your custodial cart and closet.
8. Perform emergency custodial duties during the school day (if scheduled).
9. Replace materials as needed in areas that are maintained by Custodial Services
10. Maintain the building in a safe, neat and orderly fashion.
11. Help keep the grounds and play areas free from litter.
12. Use proper operation and cleaning methods for any machinery or equipment
13. Use proper cleaning methods for spaces that you are responsible for
14. Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.
15. Assume responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.
16. Maintain communication between the Lead Custodian in regards to building needs or problems
17. Report maintenance issues to the Lead Custodian
18. Participate in any professional development the district offers for Custodial Services
19. Become familiar with all emergency procedures of the building including valves, switches and other building equipment.
20. Offer input to the Lead Custodian and/or Operations Supervisor in regards to materials, equipment, procedures, and maintenance needs.
21. Know and understand the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
22. Perform additional duties as directed by the Lead Custodian, Operations Supervisor, and/or their designee.
