SUMMARY

Provide custodial and event services in cooperation with the Events Team and Business and Industry Services.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months experience in custodial/maintenance preferred; ability to access information via computer and make changes to HVAC monitoring system and gate schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Duties

  1. Be familiar with Meeting Room Manager software and check often for updates/changes.
  2. Place event signs in front of rooms when available.
  3. Set-up/check rooms prior to events.
  4. Make Coffee/Tea as needed.
  5. Transport food/drink items to rooms and set-up as needed.
  6. Meet customers prior to event. Explain procedures, adjust temperature, assist with AV equipment, collect sign-in sheets etc. per customer needs and internal checklist.
  7. Make sure all computers and AV equipment is turned off following events.
  8. Re-supply meeting rooms with necessary supplies/equipment and providing use counts.
  9. Clean up food and supplies from catering following events.
  10. Clean and set-up rooms for events beginning at start of next shift.

Custodial Duties

Daily Events Area Duties in BIS office area, Seminar Center area, and BIS Meeting Rooms:

  1. Empty all interior and exterior trash and recycling containers. Wash containers as necessary. Replace liners. Dispose of all waste in dumpsters.
  2. Sweep and mop hard surface floors.
  3. Vacuum carpeted floors and walk off mats.
  4. Spot clean carpet stains.
  5. Clean and dust all horizontal surfaces.
  6. Clean entry doors and interior glass walls.
  7. Clean and sanitize bathrooms including urinals, toilets, sinks, partitions, floors, walls, towel dispensers, feminine hygiene receptacles, mirrors, etc.
  8. Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
  9. Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, sinks, and counters in work rooms, commons area, and break areas.
  10. Wipe down vending machines and appliances.
  11. Replenish paper and soap supplies.

Weekly

  1. Buff floors.
  2. Clean all interior glass surfaces.

Monthly

  1. Dust interior surfaces for cobwebs and such.
  2. Clean air grills and vents.
  3. Dust light fixtures.

Other

  1. Clean exterior surface of windows as needed.
  2. Shampoo all carpets twice annually.
  3. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facility.
  4. Report any maintenance needs immediately.
  5. Clean and dispose of blood and bodily fluids, as well as, other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) as needed.
  6. Prepare room set ups for daytime and evening classes and events.
  7. Help with snow and ice removal.
  8. Assist other custodians with team projects as needed.

Work hours as assigned by supervisor. Primary shift – 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Sweeping, mopping, window washing, operating floor and carpet cleaning machines, lifting chairs and tables and other furniture and appliances, as well as, all other duties required for the upkeep and appearance of buildings and grounds as directed by supervisors. Employee must pass a school-provided medical examination, background check and drug test.
