Position Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for overall neatness and cleanliness of all offices, conference rooms, restrooms and break rooms, empty trash cans and recycling, restock and order breakroom and cleaning supplies, maintain floor sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, whiteboard and countertop cleaning and dusting daily. Extended hours and weekends as needed. Clean and maintain areas listed using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Must be detail-oriented, self-directed professional who thrives in a team and solo environment.
- Must maintain a cleaning schedule that includes cleaning and caring for all offices, rest rooms, break rooms, conference rooms, clean whiteboards and conference rooms, empty and remove all trash and recycle bins, clean doors, windows, sweep, mop, wax, strip and polish floors, vacuum carpets; sanitize and stock restrooms and break rooms; polish furniture; wash windows, doors, walls, mirrors and ceilings; breaking down boxes, move trash to dumpster, maintain custodial equipment.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning and equipment and supply replenishment.
- Uses buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner and dust mops and carpet cleaning equipment.
- Travel between buildings on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures walking between buildings, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced facility and manufacturing environment with diversity and strong focus on detail, ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff.
- Ability to communicate with others and maintain confidentiality while focusing on details.
- Ability to stand, stoop, and move from location to location is required.
- Satisfy background and substance abuse test standards as required.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Janitorial experience and ability to communicate in English (read and write) at a level necessary for successful job performance and perform basic math: addition and subtraction.
- M aintain clean, organized work area and work efficiently, despite numerous interruptions.
- Ability to use hands and other body parts to operate equipment; use tools as required.
- Ability to stand, sit, stoop, climb and move from location to location.
- Ability to see, hear and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds daily; push/pull/move 45 pounds when necessary.
- Work extended hours as required to meet deadlines and set up/tear down for special events.
- Ability to multi-task, tolerate and manage changes in priorities and deadlines while focusing on detail; maintain professional appearance and attitude.
- Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks as specified; skilled in use of custodial materials, chemicals, and operate vacuum cleaners and related custodial equipment and supplies.
- Must have ability to change light bulbs and/or batteries as directed.
Experience Required or Educational Equivalent:
- 3 or more years janitorial experience required; preferably in corporate environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
