Overview

Marriott Fort Lauderdale North is looking for a Full Time Line Cook for the PM shift.

Position Summary: As a Line Cook, you would be responsible for all preparing high-quality meals for guest and staff in the restaurant line, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met, following hotel recipes and/or as specified on guest check.

Scheduling: This is a Full-Time Cook position working from 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM various weekdays, weekends and holidays . Work schedules will change weekly to meet business demands.

Specifically, your primary responsibilities as line cook are performing the following tasks in the hotel kitchen to the highest standards:

Complete daily set-up duties and kitchen line for evening shift in a timely manner.

  • Cook food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, steaming, and other cooking methods as specified.
  • Strictly follow all required cross-contamination protocols, company standards, and guidelines regarding cleanliness, organization and food preparation.
  • Prepare and cook according to the hotel’s menu specifications and guest dietary requirements for both the restaurant and banquet events.
  • Read and interpret food orders and tickets accurately to ensure timely preparation.
  • Communicate with restaurant staff as needed for order clarification and updates.
  • Collaborate with culinary team to plan and execute daily menus and special events.
  • Check quality of food, confirming it is prepared, plated and presented in an appealing manner before served, ensuring the guest is satisfied.
  • Participate in daily, routine, and detailed kitchen clean-up and maintenance tasks.

Supportive Functions: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements .

Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively read, understand, interpret and communicate in the English language food orders and guest tickets accurately with staff.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on presentation and quality.
  • Ability to work well in a team and manage high-pressure situations with professionalism.
  • Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and demands from guest request and/or host.
  • Able to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Moves food, equipment, carts, and tubs weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Move hands and fingers in grasping, pinching, chopping, pulling, and lifting motions associated with preparing and cooking products using knives, utensils and cookware.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully, to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English is a plus.

Professional Licenses/Certifications

  • Food Handler Certification

Experience

  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience in a culinary role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.


Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is $18.00/Hr. - $18.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
