Bartender Responsibilities
The following reflects managements definition of essential functions for the Bartender role but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or for other reasons.
- Greet guests, accurately take food and drink orders, and enter them into the point of sale system.
- Recognize intoxicated guests, refuse to over-serve guests, and seek out management with any concerns about a guest that appears intoxicated.
- Account for and maintain the security of all bar stock and inventory.
- Prepare and serve beverages to guests according to recipes.
- Stock/restock appropriate areas of the bar with alcohol, glassware, ice, and supplies.
- Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payments, and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures.
- Make a constant effort to tailor service and add personalization.
- Participate in daily service meetings.
- Take ownership of your designated station.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of menu items.
- Articulately describe all menu items, including daily additions to the menu.
- Assist other stations whenever necessary.
- Assist in training new bar staff.
- Always recommend beverages to the guests in an up-selling manner and answers any questions.
- Monitor guests to fulfill additional requests.
- Communicate any difficulties, guest comments, and other relevant information to your manager.

- At least 18 years of age.
- A high school education or equivalent.
- Minimum of one-2 years of bartender experience.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
- Have basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- A valid food safety and BASSET certification.
- Ability to deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
- Frequent long periods of standing and walking are expected during the workday.
- Ability to reach for objects and stoop or bend as needed to perform job duties.
- This position may involve visual and auditory tasks, including the ability to see and hear adequately to perform job functions.
