Job Title: Housekeeper
Position Reports To: General Manager
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of housekeeping duties under the supervision and direction of the General Manager and Housekeeping Supervisor. Duties include cleaning, dusting, moping, vacuuming, and straightening owner units and patios. In addition, responsible for making beds, resupplying bathrooms kitchens and living rooms with certain items, and emptying trash. Cleans and straights linen rooms. Must always follow the rules and regulations set forth by the latest Employee Handbook.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works weekends and holidays and has the ability to arrive to work on time; follows procedures for clocking in and out.
- Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses, paper goods and guest supplies.
- Makes beds neatly with fresh sheets and pillow cases. Sorts, counts, folds, marks or carries linens.
- Assists guests upon request (within reasonable limits).
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and mops kitchen, bathroom and other hard surface floors.
- Vacuums rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies.
- Dusts all furniture, TVs, window ledges, ceiling fans, door frames (exterior doors included) and other dust collecting areas in unit.
- Washes or cleans walls, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills as needed.
- Cleans bathrooms in unit including toilet bowls, sinks mirrors, tubs, mirrors, and shower doors.
- Cleans bathroom and kitchen counter tops.
- Monitors and reports losses of furniture, appliances or other items from owner units to General Manager or Supervisor immediately. Reports need for maintenance or repairs when unsatisfactory conditions cannot be immediately corrected.
- Empties wastebaskets, and empties and clean ashtrays.
- Performs major cleaning of cupboards drawers, and closets as needed.
- Loads dishwasher and washes dishes and utensils when applicable.
- Removes trash and waste from guestrooms for pickup by Housemen.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies. Checks and replaces light bulbs each time unit is vacated.
- Polishes chrome, or other metal bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
- Cleans stove, refrigerator, microwave and other kitchen appliances where applicable.
- Deep clean guest rooms when needed.
- Tags lost and found items with unit number, date and housekeeper name information and
- Certifies that unit has been properly cleaned and is ready for occupancy when turned over to supervisor or Front Desk staff as completed. Verifies unit inventory prior to guest arrival.
- Required to assist in laundry room when needed.
- Participates in all required health and safety meetings/classes.
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Maintains proper dress code and keeps uniforms neat and clean and worn during working hours.
- Required to report hazardous conditions for the safety of all employees and guests, including placing wet floor signs in necessary areas around the property during inclement weather or as needed.
- Responsible for picking up various trash/debris within sight to help maintain a clean environment for all employees and guests.
- Has the ability to follow directions from a supervisor and interact well with co-workers, subordinates and management.
- Participates in the set-up and break down of resort activities in the Clubhouse as directed.
- Ability to accept constructive criticism and understand/follow posted work rules and procedures.
- Performs any other various duties that may be assigned by the General Manager and Supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles such as white out, printer cartridge powder, cleaning detergents and supplies, gasoline and car fumes, microwaves from a microwave oven and risk of radiation. The work environment is typical for the job performed with a moderate noise level. This noise level is created by light foot traffic, vacuums, laundry machines and office equipment noise such as computers, printers, calculators, phones, etc. Must be comfortable working in heat, cold or inclement weather for sustained periods of time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Up to one month related experience or training is required.
- Background check will be completed as a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid US Drivers License or identification card if you do not drive.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to understand and speak Basic English sentences.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Flexible availability as the schedule rotates and includes days, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work independently without supervision for extended periods of time.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple and more complex instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
