The Cypress of Hilton Head is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Cook I to join our team! This position is responsible for full-scope, hands-on production cooking in our exciting, fast-paced Food & Beverage Department. Line Cook is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

Starting Compensation: $20.00

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Line Cook II:

As a Cook II at the Cypress of Hilton Head, you will prepare and serve food, maintain a clean kitchen, and adhere to safety and security protocols. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Wash and peel fruits and vegetables, and weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Prepare special dietary meals as required.
  • Set up serving lines and serve food in proper portions to ensure a consistent dining experience.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including dishes and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize food contact surfaces before use to prevent contamination.
  • Test foods to ensure they are cooked to the appropriate standards.
  • Monitor food quality continuously while preparing dishes.
  • Use a variety of kitchen equipment, including blenders, mixers, grinders, and slicers.
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers efficiently.
  • Evaluate the condition of equipment and make recommendations for replacements as needed.
  • Prepare and produce bread and bakery products as required.
  • Keep accurate records of diets and food temperatures.
  • Attend meetings and in-service training sessions to stay updated on best practices.
  • Train and orient new employees on safety and sanitation procedures, food preparation, and other relevant topics.
  • Guide staff on cooking and food preparation techniques.
  • Counsel subordinates on work-related issues, fostering a supportive work environment.

Your role as a Cook II will be integral to providing high-quality meals and maintaining a safe, efficient, and clean kitchen environment.

  • Exemplify at all times Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
  • Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards at all times.
  • Take temperatures for all food items being served.
  • Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
  • Perform prep duties such as butchering, cleaning fresh fish, etc. in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor food waste abuse.
  • Work together as a team in providing the members and community with the best service and presentation, while maintaining a helpful attitude.
  • Understand the responsibility to report suspected violations of The Cypress Code of Conduct to appropriate persons, The Cypress Compliance Hotline, by completing a Written Report of Suspected Compliance Violation, or by contacting a Corporate Compliance Officer directly.
  • Take appropriate precautions to avoid job-related injuries and comply with injury reporting guidelines.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow recipes
  • Completion of sanitation course or related food service course preferred
  • Cooking experience in a fast-paced environment required
