Description
Located in the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center (EKVC) is a 120-bed long-term care facility providing skilled nursing care and rehabilitation for Kentucky Veterans. EKVC is operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and was built for the sole purpose of caring for those who have served our country. Our mission is to foster independence, preserve dignity, and provide compassionate care to Kentucky's Veterans.
We are currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Housekeeper who takes pride in their work and shares our passion for creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities may include:
Clean and maintain resident rooms, common areas, administrative offices, and hallways
Perform floor care, including sweeping, mopping, buffing, and waxing a variety of surfaces (tile, carpet, vinyl, etc.)
Operate and maintain floor cleaning equipment (buffers, scrubbers, carpet cleaners, etc.)
Restock and organize housekeeping supplies and maintain orderly supply closets
Sanitize surfaces and maintain infection control standards
Remove waste and handle laundry duties including collection, washing, drying, folding, and distribution
Document maintenance and cleaning activities and report any safety concerns
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all
Preferred skills and abilities:
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
Experience in floor care and use of cleaning equipment is a plus
Ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods
Positive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for serving others

May risk exposure to chemicals associated with cleaning supplies or burns in operation of laundry machinery.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
