Sanitation Worker Job Description As a sanitation worker, you will be responsible for sanitizing production equipment and the production floor. This involves using power sprayers, attachments, squeegees, and mops, as well as breaking down and replacing equipment. An understanding of requirements to pass swabbing tests is essential. Responsibilities Sanitize production equipment and machines. Clean production equipment and machines. Work with chemicals for sanitation purposes. Understand essential chemical use, including dilutions and titration kits, and safe handling. Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally and repetitively. Stand for long periods. Reach and pull at least 25 lbs. Frequently bend and use stairs/ladders. Work overtime and Saturdays when necessary. Work safely and efficiently in a wet environment due to spraying. Operate around moving conveyor belts. Essential Skills Proficient in food safety standards, GMP, SQF, and HACCP requirements. Basic mechanical aptitude. At least one year of experience in a food production facility with sanitation experience. The shift begins at 9:45 PM and ends at 6:30 AM, with possible adjustments to an 11 PM start time. Be prepared for a wet environment due to liquids from vegetables, and strong odors from ingredients like hot peppers and vinegar.
