POSITION: COOK III
LOCATION: CENTRAL KITCHEN
TIME: 6:00AM - 1:00PM
EMPLOYMENT: 200 DAYS

Cook III
TITLE: Cook III - means personnel employed to prepare and serve meals, make reports, prepare requisitions for supplies, order equipment and repairs for a food service program of a school system.
QUALIFICATIONS: Good knowledge of safety and sanitation precautions in handling food,
knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and equipment used in cooking. Able to lift cases of food items and standing approximately 7 hours. High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required, and must achieve a passing score on the WV State Competency Test for cook. Must have a current food handler's card.
REPORTS TO: Director of Nutrition and/or Principal
JOB GOALS: Kitchen - Under general supervision of the head cook, routinely prepares and cooks food according to the menu, fills production sheets, loads and unloads transport carts.
Schools - Prepares serving line and heats food to proper temperature, serves children, cleans area and completes required forms and counts money.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
A. Performs duties efficiently and productively.
- Able to cook, chop and slice meats, vegetables and fruits.
- Able to follow recipes and/or assigned duties given by head cook or other administrators.
- Operate and maintain all food service equipment.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Complete daily production sheets, daily financial sheets, count money and make deposits as required by principal. Complete SMaster at the end of each month.
- P.O.S. schools: complete daily summary sheet, count money, collect payment and enter amount in computer, complete billing and SMaster at end of each month.
- Move items from warehouse and/or freezers to production area (central kitchen)
- Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for approximately seven hours.
- To follow county policy and procedures.
B. Maintains and/or upgrade skills.
- Participates in all county food service training programs required and strives to upgrade job performance by implementing the suggestions and decisions during these meetings.
C. Maintains positive work habits.
- Have the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with others
- Maintains positive work attitude and habits.
- Maintains a professional appearance - hairnets, leather shoes, no jewelry, etc.
- Is punctual and minimizes absences
- Takes initiative in performing assigned tasks.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated twice a year for employees with a continuing contract and three times a year for employees with a probationary contract. This is in accordance with provisions of the Hancock County Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Service Personnel.
