Description of Typical Work Schedule: 6am - 2pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday plus every other Holiday, OR 6am - 2pm every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday plus every other Holiday

PURPOSE: Prepare meals in large batches to be distributed to clients. Individually prepare and/or create meals for clients based on their needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Measure portions, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
  • Maintain food, beverage, or equipment inventories.
  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.

Additional Fields of Knowledge Important for the Role: English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Food Production - Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques. Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Experience Required: Minimum requirement is: must be able to obtain a food sanitization certification and have general knowledge of cooking. Preferred experience in the food service field.
