Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a current opening for a full time Tank Cleaner Specialist in Portsmouth, VA.

Summary: Performs management and execution of personnel for bilge maintenance, pumping, cleaning and preparation for gas free certification of tanks, voids, cofferdams, inaccessible areas, bilges and other compartments located on U.S. Navy vessels in the Hampton Roads area and beyond. Provides various services to the customer in regards to cleanliness, gas free certification and cleaning/pumping operations.

Responsibilities:

Reports to the Foreman; in the absence of the Foreman, he/she will report to an individual designated by the Foreman, Project Manager or Program Manager.

Manages personnel with conducting pumping operations, closing checkpoints, cleaning and setup/breakdown of all equipment associated with Bilge Maintenance and Tank Cleaning operations.

Provides management, execution and expertise for Chemical Cleaning of piping to include CHT, VCHT, Firemain, Auxiliary Sea Water (ASW) and other piping systems.

Strictly adheres to corporate, federal, state and local safety/OSHA regulations.

Ensures that all Epsilon Systems MRG Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded.

Maintains good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc.

Assumes financial responsibility for all tools he/she checks out from the Tool Room. Returns tools/equipment to proper location and reports any lost, missing, stolen or damaged items to the Facilities Foreman in accordance with Process Instruction.

Ensure that all requirements of the Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Quality Assurance Manual are followed when invoked by QA Workbook, Work Package (WP), Work Instructions (WI) and/or other guidance given by management.

Follow detailed repair procedures and instructions (e.g.; QA Workbooks, Work packages steps, RECs, CWPs, FWPs, TGIs etc.) required to complete the production operations.

Notifies the Foreman of any unsatisfactory condition(s) identified during the production operation (i.e.; repair, modification, etc.).

Coordinates the efforts of other trades during Bilge Maintenance, Tank Cleaning, pumping operations or chemical cleaning.

Ensures control and assumes responsibility for Level-1 material controls in accordance with Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Instructions.

Follows and executes work packages, specification items or system alterations (e.g.; TEMPALTs, SHIPALTs, ORDALTs, etc.) IAW the directives (i.e.; instructions, drawings, Technical Manuals, MILSPECs, etc.).

Is directly responsible to the success and execution of Government checkpoints in regards to turnover of bilges and closing tanks/voids/confined spaces.

Requirements:

High school diploma/GED.

8+ years' on-site experience.

Ability to perform work with limited or no supervision.

Ability and knowledge to repair/clean pumps and various equipment.

Ability to follow all gas free functions to include hose setups, air connections, tank/void cleaning and bilge cleaning/pumping and tank/void watch to include frack tank/tanker truck watch.

Must be able to climb ladderwells, enter tanks/voids and other confined spaces and take direction from superiors.

Must be tank/void watch and firewatch qualified.

Must be able to traverse multiple classes of U.S. Navy warships to include ladderwells, tight compartments, tanks, voids, bilges and heights exceeding 4'.

Must be proficient in advanced cleaning techniques and be able to impart techniques on subordinates via on the job training.

Must be able to assess and execute hose runs from pier to the designated pumping area onboard the vessel as well as augmenting and identifying issues presented after hose run has been established to be cognizant of other work in his/her area.

Must be aware and must inform Project Manager about all safety infractions found or given to them to repair/fix.

Must be able to assess and execute hose runs from pier to the designated pumping area onboard the vessel.

Must be able to identify and assess if bilges, tanks and voids assigned to them are ready for a successful inspection or closing checkpoint.

Must be able to prepare a checkpoint for a Level III employee to execute and turn over satisfactorily.

Ability to obtain and maintain access to military and government installations and private shipyards.

ADA Notations:

Involves reaching with arms, stretching, crawling, climbing, heavy lifting, frequent stooping or bending and possible working assignments in overhead structures, confined spaces or beneath machinery. Works in very cold conditions or very hot conditions.
