Starting pay range for position: $22.50 - $27.00 per hour
Typical working hours are from Monday through Friday from 7:00 am 4:00 pm. This position is 40 hours per week. SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Buildings Maintenance Supervisor the Buildings Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and unskilled manual labor duties associated with the maintenance of City grounds, buildings and equipment.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and repair City facilities, equipment, and buildings by performing a variety of skilled electrical, plumbing, painting, heating and air conditioning, and mechanical repair work.
- Install, adjust, repair and inspect heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
- Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, and pipes.
- Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs and safety issues.
- Repair and maintain electrical lighting systems and fixtures.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.)
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs.
- Responsible for vehicle maintenance (e.g. fuel, wash, general maintenance).
- Ensure facilities and buildings are in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and other
- Federal guidelines and safety regulations. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform outside grounds and general landscaping work.
- Shovel and plow snow as necessary.
- Set-up for recreational room rentals and for special events needing sound and lighting systems, staging, screens, curtains, lines, table and chairs.
- Assist vacuum and brushes pool; clean filters and tanks.
- Order maintenance duties as assigned (supplies, equipment, custodial work, etc).
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
- Ability to utilize hand tools and operate power equipment such as; floor polisher, skilsaw, etc.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor as required for extended periods of time, under adverse working conditions.
- General knowledge of techniques, tools and materials used in performing maintenance and custodial duties.
- Ability to pull/back up truck and trailer.
- Ability to operate snowplow.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- One to Two (1-2) years of experience in the full range of building maintenance and construction, including electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
- Valid Class R Drivers License with good driving history at the time of application.
- Ability to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days.
- HVAC experience/certification strongly preferred.
- Electrical and plumbing experience/certification strongly preferred.
- Additional specialized technical training in building maintenance is desirable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Also, have the ability to operate a vehicle. The employee must regularly carry, pull, push or lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally carry, pull, push or lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision acuity, night vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust his or her focus, allowing a broad field of vision. It is essential that the employee be physically able to operate a variety of computer, associated software and office equipment, personal computer, first aid equipment and other equipment as assigned.

- Extreme Heat: temperature hot enough to cause marked bodily discomfort.
- Extreme Cold: temperature hot enough to cause marked bodily discomfort.
- Temperature Changes: variations in temperature form hot to cold.
- Wet: frequent contact with water or other liquid.
- Hazards: conditions where there is danger to life, body, and/or health.
- Subject to long irregular hours.
Hand and power tools, saws, snow plows, ladders, electrical meters, lifts, bucket truck.

The City of Fort Lupton maintains a drug free workplace.
