Job Description: Line Cook Country Club

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team at the Country Club. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes according to the menu and maintaining the kitchens organization during service. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and presentation, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the menu, following recipes and food preparation standards. Ensure that each dish is prepared to the highest quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Station Management: Maintain your assigned station efficiently, ensuring that all ingredients and equipment are prepared and available for service. Keep the station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
  • Timing & Execution: Ensure that all orders are completed on time, coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during busy periods.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality and consistency of food being prepared and cooked, ensuring that all dishes meet the club's culinary standards for flavor, appearance, and portion control.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout the shift.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by ensuring that ingredients and supplies are properly stored and rotated. Report low inventory levels to the sous chef or executive chef.
  • Communication: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including line cooks, sous chefs, and dishwashers, to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure proper order timing.
  • Event & Banquet Support: Assist in the preparation of food for special events, banquets, and catering functions, ensuring that all orders are prepared and served according to specifications.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas of the kitchen or help with prep work, as needed. Adapt to changes in the menu or special requests during service.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all kitchen and service staff to ensure that food is prepared and served in an efficient and professional manner, contributing to a positive dining experience for members and guests.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Culinary Expertise: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient handling, and food preparation. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and execute dishes to a high standard.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, particularly in a high-pressure environment, ensuring that food is prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to keep your station clean and stocked, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently during service.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure consistency and quality in every dish. Ensure that each plate leaving the kitchen meets presentation and taste standards.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a team, cooperating with fellow kitchen staff and communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in different areas of the kitchen, including prep work and cleaning, depending on need.
  • Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards. Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally as a line cook or prep cook. Previous experience in a country club, hotel, or fine dining environment is a plus.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A formal culinary education or completion of a culinary arts program is preferred but not required.
  • Certifications: Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) required.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the club's event and dining schedule.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($17.00 - $20.00)
