The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of preventative maintenance, repair and renovation activities to the property, buildings and equipment. Prepare and maintain rental property for events.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This is non-supervisory position and non-exempt position. Reports to Expo Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Performs general maintenance including operating tractors, fork lifts, shredder, weed eaters and other equipment to maintain and upkeep the property grounds. Mow and trims grass, trim shrubs and trees, and performs other functions including picking up litter on grounds.

Assist with minor plumbing, carpentry repairs and related tasks.

Prepare and maintain rental property for events and follow with cleaning once events are completed.

Assist with the preparation of activities including setting up portable panels.

Operates pickup truck to transport materials to and from job sites and the collections and distribution of supplies.

Performs general janitorial cleaning responsibilities as assigned.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Performs other related duties as required.

On call for events as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires general knowledge of the procedures, materials and equipment related to the plumbing and carpentry trades.

Requires general knowledge of the occupational hazards of building trades work and the associated safety precautions.

Requires skills in the use and care of a variety of hand and power tools necessary to perform plumbing, masonry, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and woodworking tasks.

Requires the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time as required by work assignments.

Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments and the diversity of the public during events.

Requires the ability to be accountable for inventory/property management.

Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

Requires the ability to use and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.

Requires the ability to use and repair medium equipment and machinery.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas driver's license required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Maintain a safe driving record throughout employment.

Must be insurable with the County insurance carrier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stoop, push, pull, walk, stand, drive and lift up to 100 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in all kinds of indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather (heat, cold, and wet).

May be exposed to dust, extreme noise and/or potentially hazardous chemical conditions.

This position requires availability to address emergencies during nonstandard work week hours, including holidays and weekends.

Work reporting location may be anywhere within Washington County
