Job Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the Knoxville, Iowa Head Start Preschool classroom with all aspects of meal service, including grocery shopping, meal preparations, measuring and preparing for meal service, documentation, and proper food storage and sanitation to ensure compliance with all regulations and quality nutritional services for enrolled children.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Access to reliable transportation to get to and from your work site daily and ability to be insured by the University's insurance carrier
- Prior experience with food preparation and meal service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Head Start Experience
- Current Iowa Driver's License
Job Duties:
- 50% - Prepare nutritious meals and snacks following safe food practices and CACFP guidelines. Cook, cut, measure, and prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack daily according to menus and food service plans. Deliver meals to the classroom daily. - (Essential)
- 15% - Daily documentation related to menus and meal plans, food service, dietary substitutions, and any other required information. Submit receipts and documentation per established timelines and regulations. - (Essential)
- 15% - Grocery shop weekly following approved menus and meal service plans. Ensure appropriate purchases to support documented and approved food substitutions and dietary needs. - (Essential)
- 10% - Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and food preparation spaces. Clean equipment, utensils, and dishes. - (Essential)
- 5% - Maintain appropriate trainings and certifications. - (Essential)
- 5% - Federal Head Start Program Performance Standards, state and local regulations, rules, and requirements compliance. Maintain strict confidentiality of all records and documents. Maintain department records and reports in a secure manner. Represent Drake University and Drake University Head Start in a professional manner. Treat clients, co-workers, staff, parents and community members with respect and civility and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. React to change productively, maintain prompt and regular attendance, and perform all other duties as assigned. Promote Head Start philosophy and initiatives. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
