Medical Receptionist Job Description The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for managing the reception of a busy outpatient site. Duties include checking patients in and out, verifying insurance and copays, scheduling appointments, answering incoming calls, and working in the medical billing department to collect past due payments. Responsibilities Greet patients professionally both in person and on the phone. Answer or properly refer questions and issues quickly. Optimize provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling. Notify providers of patient arrivals. Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions. Ensure availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records. Verify financial records and collect patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims. Collect on past due medical billing claims. Essential Skills Experience in healthcare collections and insurance verification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Administrative support skills. Patient registration expertise. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of non-clinical healthcare experience. High School Diploma or GED. Work Environment The role is based in a small office environment that is very fast-paced. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 12 PM to 8 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
