Title: Food Service Cashier/Bookkeeper at Shawnee Heights Elementary School

Schedule: 8:30 am - 1:30 pm (4.5 hours per day / 172 days per year)

Start Date: August 8, 2025

Reports to: Food Service Director

Purpose and Objectives of the Position: The Food Service Cashier/Bookkeeper collects meal payments and provides financial reporting services to ensure efficient operation of the food service program. To accomplish these tasks the Food Service Cashier/Bookkeeper must work closely with the staff and administration of the district.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to collect meal payments and provide financial reporting services to ensure efficient operation of the food service program.
  • Ability to ensure all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
  • Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning.
  • Ability to work in a noisy and crowded environment, with numerous interruptions.
  • Ability to work in and around fumes and odors.

General Responsibilities:

  • Accepts money at any time for deposit into student accounts.
  • Ability to take money during breakfast/lunch periods. Keep records of paid, free, and reduced students, and maintain a required system of accountability. Bank deposits are to be prepared daily.
  • Ability to maintain required forms and records as assigned.
  • Ability to assist in production and clean-up as directed.
  • Ability to work in a pleasant, cheerful manner to make school meals a pleasant time for all students. Attend meetings and job-related training classes and workshops for learning and exchange ideas to make the breakfast and lunch programs successful.
  • Ability to observe and follow district policies at all times.
  • Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Principal or Food Service Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in bookkeeping.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of the tasks listed.
  • Ability to observe and follow all school District policies at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a neat clean appearance at all times.
  • Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned.
  • Ability to implement and observe all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Must complete all annual training as required by district.
  • Must verify good health by passing a physical examination that includes TB and drug test as required.
  • Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
  • Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.

Terms of Employment: At Will. Salary to be established by the Board.
