A. GENERAL PURPOSE Under supervision of the Maintenance Director and Lead Maintenance Worker, provides overall maintenance to City properties, facilities, and structures, and other duties as assigned; performs a wide variety of semi-skilled tasks involving the maintenance and repair of facilities, including recreation facilities and equipment. B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintains City Hall building, outbuildings, and other City facilities. 2. Provides building security including ensuring operational integrity of locks, doors, and other security devices in City facilities. 3. Inspects construction and repair work performed by others for City. 4. Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, painting, and landscaping. 5. Assists parks maintenance staff in performing tree-care maintenance in parks, open spaces, along trails, and in other City properties as needed. 6. Collects and disposes of litter and debris. 7. Cleans restrooms, common areas, seating areas, and other city facilities as needed. 8. Assists in performing turf maintenance in and around streets, parks, trails, and facilities. 9. Removes and impounds signs illegally erected on City property or in public right-of-way at the direction of the Maintenance Director. 10. Responds to emergency calls during and after regular work hours. 11. Assists in Founders Day Festival, Christmas on Mercer Street, Farmers Market, and other community event preparation and activities as needed. 12. Maintains availability while on duty to assist event holders, park users, and facility users. 13. Assists parks maintenance with cleaning and maintaining city swimming pool and pool related facilities. 14. Fulfills daily maintenance call requests/requirements from City staff. 15. Works independently and productively. 16. Exhibits professional demeanor and positive communication skills. 17. Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted during work. 18. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 19. Performs other related duties as assigned. C. SUPERVISION Under general supervision of the Maintenance Director. Supervised by Lead Maintenance Worker when Maintenance Director is not onsite and as otherwise directed by the Maintenance Director.

Qualifications:

A. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Must possess High School Diploma or GED PLUS one (1) year of general maintenance experience (preferred) or applicable work experience.

2. Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver s License, clean driving record, and working vehicle.

3. Must possess strong background in maintenance, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and general contracting.

4. Preference will be given to applicants with maintenance experience and to applicants familiar with light to medium duty equipment, mowing equipment, string trimmer, etc.

5. Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certifications desirable but not required.

6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials, media, and the general public.

7. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

8. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.

B. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Light to medium duty equipment, mowing equipment, string trimmer, motor vehicles, phone, mobile or portable radio, and general maintenance equipment. Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver s License, clean driving record and working vehicle.

C. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to perform the essential functions if needed.

a. Work is performed mostly in field settings. Considerable outdoor work is required in the maintenance of various City facilities and parks. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds.

b. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around City facilities and among city facilities throughout the City. The employee is also regularly required to feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

c. Must be able to distinguish colors when working with equipment, electrical panels, etc.; must be able to operate assigned vehicle or equipment.

D. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to perform the essential functions if needed.

a. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to extremes in weather condition; exposure to vibrations and noise; work on slippery or uneven surfaces, work with electricity; work with and around heavy machinery, work in or near vehicle traffic; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; possible exposure to toxic chemicals.

b. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

E. WORK HOURS

Core work hours are between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm including one unpaid hour for lunch, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Additional hours on nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies will be needed in this position subject to the direction of the Maintenance Director. This is a full-time non-exempt position and eligible for overtime as described in the CITY OF DRIPPING SPRINGS PERSONNEL MANUAL. Any overtime hours performed must be preapproved by the direct supervisor.

F. SALARY

Pay range is $22.00 to $24.00 hourly. Salary is commensurate with the position. Pay days will be the days listed in the current CITYOF DRIPPING SPRINGS PERSONNEL MANUAL.

G. BENEFITS

Benefits shall be in accordance with those outlined in the CITY OF DRIPPING SPRINGS

PERSONNEL MANUAL, as may be modified by the employee s offer letter and subsequent revisions to the Manual.
