It is the primary responsibility of the Cocktail Server to expedite guests drink order and to provide beverage and bussing service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices and procedures. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain uniform appearance according to established guidelines.
- Know locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services available to guests.
- Communicates professionally and courteously when interacting with guests and fellow co-workers.
- Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome.
- Follow established procedures for comps.
- Anticipate the guests’ needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available on the casino floor.
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink.
- Complete opening side duties fold/stack cocktail napkins, stock swizzle sticks, straws, matches, line cocktail trays, stock glassware, restock supply cabinet, inspect cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify any deficiencies.
- Picks up dirty glassware from assigned station and return them to the Service Bar.
- Table games cocktail waitresses clean/empty ashtrays as needed.
- Inform Bartender of needed supplies.
- Communicate orders into system through Bartender ensuring transmission is verified.
- Bid farewell to guests, using guest’s name when known, and encourage them to return.
- Assist with maintaining a neat, clean and safe working environment.
- Turnover/Takeover station according to established procedures.
- Relay all guest compliments and complaints to the manager on duty.
- Is aware of and in compliance with all Health Department regulations while performing duties.
- Adhere to policies and procedures and liquor laws.
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
- Work in an environment that is subjected to varying levels of heat and noise, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
- Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Minimum age requirement is 21.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
At least 6 months of experience as a Cocktail and/or Food Server in a similar environment.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math skills.
Language Skills:
Must be able to speak and understand English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
- Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
- Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
- Frequently stooping, reaching.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
- Work with others in close spaces.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
