A day in the life of a Custodian at Thorne requires:

  • Performs daily custodial maintenance duties as required including sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, and trash removal, as well as specialized floor care such as waxing, burnishing, and carpet care with limited or no interference with operations. Must be able to use ladders. Must be able to stand for 8-10-, and 12-hour shifts.
  • Pays attention to detail and is consistent, cleaning the facility thoroughly and proficiently.
  • Effectively completes routine receiving and deliveries and stocking of supplies, such as production supplies, production uniforms, production cleaning supplies, and cafeteria supplies.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; performs routine maintenance as required.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Thorne facility and demonstrates initiative to report damage or potential problems with equipment or with the building in a timely manner.
  • Maintains work areas in a neat and efficient matter, assuring equipment and tools are properly stored after each project is completed.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of project status and recognizes the need to ask for help in order to achieve goals. Understands and follows changes in procedures.
  • Employee is at work as scheduled, starts work at the beginning of a shift, is on time to meetings, completes assigned tasks in a timely manner, and works overtime as required.
  • Demonstrates initiative and job knowledge by suggesting ideas, discovering new and better ways of accomplishing goals and finds innovative, well thought-out solutions to problems.
  • Knows and follows the Maintenance Department policies and procedures and Thorne Research policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Promotes an accountable, innovative, and results-oriented culture promoting openness, teamwork, mutual trust, and respect.

What You Need:

  • By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
