Job Summary:
Performs various front office and back office patient care duties. More specifically, this position will assist with flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and perform preparatory work on patients to ensure efficient use of the physician's time.

Hours: 40 hours weekly

Responsibilities include:

Greets all patients in a friendly and welcoming manner.

Registers all patients in the EMR. Includes retrieval of all demographic, financial and insurance information from patients. Secures all necessary signatures on required forms.

Obtains copies of patient identification and insurance identification and scans into document imaging system.

Upon completion of registration, notifies the medical assistant that the patient is ready.

Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients, visitors, co-workers and physicians in accordance with Service Excellence standards.

Demonstrates appropriate and courteous telephone etiquette during telephone exchanges. Relays essential phone messages. Contacts physicians' offices to exchange and gather information regarding patients.

Schedules patients for appointments with the doctor and for testing as necessary.

Preauthorizes testing and procedures as ordered by the doctor for the patient.

Distributes incoming faxes and handles outgoing faxes.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Fluent in Spanish required

Qualifications
- Medical administrative support experience
- Patient service background
- Office experience, especially in a medical setting
- Proficiency in front desk duties
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic and eClinicalWorks
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Strong communication skills, including Spanish proficiency
- Excellent phone etiquette
- Understanding of medical terminology and records

Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

  • Medical office experience preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent or a minimum of 2 years full-time experience in a related field required.
Englewood Health provides a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources. Minimum rate: 16.50
