Janitor

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the manufacturing side of operations, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for employees, visitors, and customers.

The Build (Responsibilities)

Sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping and buffing of floor areas in the shop.

Perform other duties such as dusting windowsills and moldings; cleaning glass (inside and outside); vacuuming and removing spots from carpets; cleaning and disinfecting areas as needed; washing soiled areas of partitions, doors, and walls.

Wax and polish floor areas as needed.

Maintain restrooms in a clean and orderly manner by mopping floors; windowsills, and other surfaces; washing basins, doors, partitions and soiled areas of walls, clean furniture, mirrors, windows, blinds and other items; cleaning and disinfecting fixtures, toilets and urinals.

Clean and fill all soap, paper and other dispensing equipment (replacing batteries as needed).

Prepare lists of needed supplies.

Perform other associated duties as needed, including but not limited to snow removal from walkways at building entrances/approaches and application or deicer.

Maintain employee entrances.

Collect trash and recyclables

Run floor scrubber in high traffic areas.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms (overhead reaching), push or pull and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
