Location: Knoxville Area Command-Knoxville, TN
About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building and grounds to ensure a consistently neat, tidy appearance.
Key responsibilities:
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors and replenishes supplies.
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
- Cleans windows, dusts, and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Cleans kitchen and dining area, washes dishes, cleans stoves, and ovens.
- Empties trash cans regularly and collects trash from grounds.
- Assists in setting up meeting rooms, sets up tables and chairs, puts ice in glasses, and sets out drinks.
- Assists in monitoring light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order and replaces light bulbs as necessary.
- Raises and lowers all flags daily; displays special signs as needed.
- Assists the public in unloading and carrying donations.
- Assists in performing building maintenance and repair work.
- Assists in performing groundskeeping work.
- Prepares and submits a weekly report to supervisor showing supplies needed and listing any maintenance issues that require attention.
What we are looking for in you:
Education and Experience:
No formal education or experience required.
Six months’ experience performing general housekeeping duties,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
None
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work which includes continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
Physical ability to lift, carry and push/pull objects (less than 50 pounds).
Elevated level of mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.
