Janitor/Custodian

General Summary:

Provide basic cleaning work in production and office areas of the Sharon Center Blow Molding Facility ensuring it is kept in a clean and professional looking appearance. Perform related work as required. Support Blow Molding Department as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining cardboard recycling program.
• Clean and maintain offices and all break room and bathroom areas
• Facility painting.
• Clean and maintain clean windows.
• Garbage collection.
• Recycle collection of cardboard and other recyclables.
• Maintaining and stocking of custodial supplies.
• Work in a safety conscious manner
• Watch for and report/repair safety hazards
• Report needs for maintenance and supplies
• Attend all mandatory company meetings and safety education sessions
• Maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and employer
• Perform any other duties as assigned

Education and Skill Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent and/or combination of experience, training, and education approved by the Department Supervisor/Human Resources.
• Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment necessary to the work
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Ability to get along with fellow associates, supervisors, and management.
• Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication in the English language.
• Ability to operate standard equipment used in janitorial work.
• Use reading and writing, adding and subtracting of whole numbers; following of instructions; use of fixed gauges, direct reading of instruments and similar devices where interpretation is not required.

Physical Demand:

• Walking, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, carrying, twisting, turning and/or pushing or pulling 75 lbs. or more, but requires the ability to use good judgment in determining the best method and equipment
• Lifting of moderately heavy objects
• Dumping of heavy trash receptacles.
• Good communication skills with the ability to speak and hear others clearly
• Must be able to climb equipment, ladders and steep stairs
