Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a dedicated Groundskeeper to maintain and enhance the quality of its athletic fields. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment w your contributions directly support student athletics and campus pride. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities/Grounds, the Groundskeeper will perform essential tasks such as planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and turf to ensure safe, functional, and visually appealing sports fields. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in their work, enjoy being outdoors, and aremitted to maintaining high standards of care and excellence in a collegiate setting.

Summary of Responsibilities

Maintains sports fields. Performs garbage pick-up and performs mowing and trimming of sports fields, including monitoring of the height of cut, frequency of cut, safety hazards and turf condition. Performs aeration, topdressing, seeding and striping lines on sports fields. Performs preparation for games on all sports fields.

Performs daily upkeep and adjustment of all lawn mowers. Assists in repairing mechanical equipment, makes emergency repairs to utility systems, lawn mowers and facilities. Sharpens and repairs reels for proper cut and angle. Operates light and heavy tractors, trucks and stationary equipment.

Assists Watermaster in sprinkler operations, secondary water system and fountains. Inspects supplies and licenses, repairs valves, sprinkler heads and otherponents of a sprinkling system.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Performs planting, transplanting and pruning of trees, shrubs and other plants.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation with high school diploma and one year related experience or anybination of job related experience and education totaling one year. May require additional certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and two years related experience, OR, anybination of education or experience related to the summary of duties totaling four years.

Licenses or Certifications

Must have a valid Utah driver's license.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge

Knowledge of sports field maintenance, knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape, planting, pruning, mowing, aeration, grooming and raking.

Skills

Good written and verbalmunication skills.

Abilities

Ability to read blues.

Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.

Ability to work fluctuating shifts to amodate game play.
