We are looking for a part-time Cook to bring their culinary talents to Saint Therese Westlake. At this facility you'll find a community full of care and comfort where the dedicated staff make every resident feel like part of the family. Our cozy community is the perfect balance of professionally trained staff in a peaceful home-like setting. This campus has 33 beds for Memory Care and Assisted Living.

Part-time position working 1:00pm - 6:00pm, including working every other weekend and every other holiday (max of 60 hours per pay period)

The Cook position is responsible for creating high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring that all food is crafted to meet established state and local food codes, regulations, and best practices. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in meal preparation to maintain the highest standards of nutrition and safety.

Job duties encompass a range of responsibilities including cooking and baking, as well as cleaning equipment and maintaining operations. You will prepare both hot and cold meals for residents and manage the food service for special events, and carry out general cleaning tasks to ensure a well-organized kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED. Vocational training in quantity food preparation is preferred. Serve Safe certification is required.

Experience: Minimum of one year cooking experience. Minimum of one year of quantity food production in a health care facility preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to read English and follow dietary cards, menus, and production sheets.

Ability to work cooperatively with others.

Ability to communicate through English oral and written skills.

Background inmenu development and dietary accommodations(allergies, restrictions, and preferences).

Proven ability tomanage a solo operationor work with a small team efficiently.

Strong understanding offood safety protocolsand kitchen sanitation.

Exceptional cooking skills with an ability to execute high-quality meals consistently.

Ability to plan, prep, and execute multiple meals daily without compromising quality.

Capable of adjusting menus based on ingredient availability and client preferences.

Keeps a well-maintained, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.

Can work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.

When working with support staff, they must be able to delegate effectively while maintaining a positive team dynamic by working along with the nursing staff.

Willingness toadjust to flexible hoursbased on client needs.
