Position Overview

Captains at The Hunton are responsible for orchestrating seamless and elevated guest experiences through polished service, proactive communication, and team leadership. As ambassadors of our brand and values, Captains are both gracious hosts and knowledgeable service professionalsequally confident guiding wine pairings, narrating the menu, and anticipating the needs of every guest and team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding, personalized hospitality in alignment with The Hunton core values.
  • Lead the service team through pre-shift, table maintenance, and closing duties with confidence and care.
  • Present and articulate food and beverage offerings with accuracy and enthusiasm.
  • Execute all tableside service, including wine presentations and menu spiels, with a refined and engaging presence.
  • Foster a positive, team-centered environment by mentoring junior staff and supporting peers.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of seasonal menus, cocktails, and wine listincluding provenance and preparation methods.
  • Assist in creating memorable guest moments through thoughtful gestures and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Uphold daily operations including sidework, inspections, and systems-driven execution.
  • Communicate guest preferences and feedback with precision and tact.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Captain or Lead Server role in a fine dining or upscale restaurant.
  • Deep understanding of service mechanics, wine service, and guest engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Prior experience with POS systems and cash handling required.
  • Experience with Italian, French, or locally-driven cuisine a plus.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($3.00 - $5.00) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $950
