Job Summary

Kurtz is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-oriented Counter Sales/Receptionist that enjoys interacting with people, serve as the initial Point-of-Contact for the Company and provide exceptional customer service and sales support for commercial doors, hardware, and other related products. This role involves assisting customers with inquiries, managing transactions, and ensuring seamless communication between customers and Kurtz staff members. The ideal candidate will be required to have experience in sales and customer service, keen attention to detail, and knowledge of commercial door and hardware products (i.e. Steelcraft, Republic, Ceco, Curries).

Accountability Measures

- Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the Company's product offerings and industry trends.

- Process sales transactions accurately either by cash, card, check and invoicing methods.

- Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with Company policies.

- Maintain a clean and organized counter/showroom area, including product displays.

- Provide expert assistance with product inquiries, including commercial doors, frames and hardware.

- Contribute to sales targets and overall team performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers professionally at the sales counter or phone, ensuring a welcoming experience.

- Assist customers in selecting appropriate products based on their needs and project specifications.

- Answer and direct incoming calls to the appropriate department or staff member.

- Collaborate with warehouse staff to confirm stock availability.

- Support inventory management by notifying relevant teams of low stock levels or special-order requirements.

- Provide basic administrative support and maintain accurate customer records.

- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors.

Skills and Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or industry certifications are a plus.

- Experience in the commercial door and hardware industry, sales, and customer service will be required.

- Familiarity with commercial construction terminology and product specifications is a plus.

- Friendly and professional demeanor with strong problem-solving abilities.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong attention to detail.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office

Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

- Ability to read and understand technical product specifications and blueprints (preferred).

- Ability to lift and move light to medium-weight items (e.g., hardware components).

Work Environment

- Primarily works in the showroom, sales counter or office setting.

- May require occasional walking to the warehouse or lifting of items for customer orders.
