A General Maintenance will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas. Guest room and public area entry-level preventative maintenance are included. A General Maintenance Engineer will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring some skills and experience in these areas, as well as good communication skills.

  • A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred.
  • Good customer skills are also required.
  • Maintain accurate records on preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel.
  • Adhere to safety, security and emergency procedures, react appropriately during emergencies, and act promptly to correct hazards.
  • Have working knowledge of basic electric and plumbing skills. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify needs and parts.
  • Know how to operate hand and power tools (drills, table saw, reciprocating saw and tile saws.
  • Make effective judgments on the various aspects of general repairs and maintenance and effectively solve guest and operational problems.
  • Must have basic painting skills that include but not limited to working with paint, stains, enamels, epoxies, and coatings
  • Must have basic skill for furniture repair and touch up.
  • Must have working knowledge of installation and repair of wall covering
  • Must have working knowledge of drywall, drywall repair, mud and taping.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will likely include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 15 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat frequently; kneel or crawl occasionally; infrequently climb a ladder
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements, pushing and pulling and simple grasping frequently; squeezing, overhead reaching & fine manipulation occasionally.
  • Respond to guest service calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
