Experience operating standard cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment
6 months of experience in custodial services
Knowledge, Skills,
Ability to read, understand and follow directions
Abilities:
Able to work with little supervision as well as work on a team
Time management and decision-making skills
Communication skills, including oral, written, and listening
Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment related to
custodial duties
Knowledge of proper sanitization, blood-borne pathogens, and safety procedures
Ability to lift, bend and stoop as necessary to clean and operate equipment

Position Summary
To maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff and public on the
inside and out. Assist with a variety of job duties, dependent on the different seasons and
various weather conditions, sub for custodian shifts.
Essential Job Functions:
Clean and sanitize assigned facilities including restrooms, offices, classrooms, and
meeting rooms
Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, counters, tables, windowsills, windows, blinds, doors,
vestibules, restroom stalls, sinks, walls, and equipment
Empty trashcans and recycle bins, breakdown cardboard and take to recycle bin
Stock and refill toilet paper and paper towel dispensers, cleaning products (following
instructions for mixing chemicals, use as directed)
Replace light bulbs, air fresheners and batteries (use ladder when needed)
Strip, clean, buff, wax, polish, seal, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors/elevator, shampoo
carpets (to include removal of all tables, chairs, and equipment)
Arrange furnishings and equipment for meetings, classes, and community activities
Keep outside grounds clean, entrance areas free of trash and debris, empty cigarette
urns and pick up butts, report any safety concerns
Perform outside grounds maintenance including but not limited to mowing, trimming
grass and trees, pulling, or spraying weeds
Assist with snow removal and ice from sidewalks and entryways at a minimum
Inspect school facilities for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs, equipment
breakage, potential weather conditions and unexpected damages
Lock doors and windows, secure buildings when not in use checking for unlocked
doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
Follow all safety procedures when using products and equipment, attend meetings for
training and updates
Effectively communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and community
Respond to immediate safety or operational concerns including damage, blood
contamination, alarm systems alerts, shoveling snow, etc
Assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their
work
Support the vision, mission, and policies of Salina Area Technical College
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Occasional physical exertion to manually lift, carry, push, pull or move objects or
materials less than 100 pounds
Generally, involves 90% standing/walking, 10% sitting, however some days may
require much more standing/walking
Considerable stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching, standing on ladders, moving
equipment, etc

Competitive hourly wage is commensurate with qualifications
