Housekeeper (Full-time, Live-Out) Location: Hillsborough, CA Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (35 hours per week), with flexibility to meet any additional needs Start Date: As soon as possible, but flexible for the right candidate. About the Role We are seeking a polished, proactive, and detail-oriented full-time Housekeeper for a meticulously maintained, approximately 6,000 sq. ft. residence in Hillsborough, featuring 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The household is casual yet high-standard and very active, with one principal working onsite. This year-round, live-out position requires exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage daily housekeeping as well as larger seasonal projects, particularly during summer as the family travels. The ideal candidate is a reliable, hard-working team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with school-aged children and their caretakers. Discretion and confidentiality are essential at all times. Key Responsibilities Perform all aspects of daily housekeeping with exceptional attention to detail: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and polishing surfaces to a consistently high standard Meticulously clean and sanitize bathrooms and kitchens daily Make beds daily and wash bed linens once per week Manage all household laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, steaming, folding, and putting away clothes and linens for the family Maintain impeccable organization throughout the home, including closets, pantries, and common areas Care for delicate surfaces, fine furnishings, artwork, and unique household items according to detailed instructions Execute deep cleaning and larger-scale projects regularly, with a focus on summer and other family travel periods (e.g., cleaning baseboards, windows, inside cabinets, specialized surfaces, and full-home organization projects) Maintain and clean outdoor living spaces, including patios and the pool house: Sweep and wash patio surfaces regularly to remove dirt, debris, and mildew Inspect, clean, and store patio furniture and outdoor pillows/cushions; use protective covers and follow care instructions for outdoor fabrics Remove cobwebs, dust, and debris from all outdoor areas Monitor and restock outdoor and pool house supplies as needed Support basic pool area upkeep (removing debris, cleaning pool deck, reporting maintenance needs) Proactively identify and communicate any repairs or maintenance needs for outdoor spaces Prep for hosted events, including setup, service support, and post-event cleanup Polish silver and care for specialty serving pieces and tableware Manage and inventory cleaning supplies, proactively communicating needs for replenishment Assist with special projects, seasonal cleaning, and event preparation as needed Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other household staff (e.g., Nannies, Estate Manager) to ensure seamless operations Proactively identify areas needing attention and take initiative to address them independently Uphold strict discretion and confidentiality regarding all household and family matters Qualifications Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Housekeeper in a private residence Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Proven ability to manage both routine housekeeping and larger cleaning/organizational projects independently Must be a team player: collaborative, reliable, and hard working Experience maintaining and cleaning outdoor living areas and pool houses Experience with event preparation and service, including polishing silver and preparing specialty items Proactive work ethic with strong initiative and problem-solving skills Highly organized, punctual, and trustworthy, with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality Comfortable working in a child-friendly environment and interacting respectfully with school-aged children and care staff Ability to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques for various surfaces and materials (e.g., wood, marble, delicate fabrics) Valid driver's license and clean driving record Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to perform physical duties associated with housekeeping (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, climbing stairs) Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and reference verification Compensation & Benefits $45 per hour Paid holidays (including major federal holidays) 10 paid vacation days 6 sick days $500/month health stipend to help cover health insurance or medical expenses To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter sharing more about yourself and your experience.
