Job Description
Under general supervision, performs semiskilled work of more than routine nature in maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment, or hauling maintenance materials. Positions in this class require skill in the use of hand tools and the more simple power tools.
High School or GED diploma required
Experience in performing building general maintenance, grounds and equipment maintenance and general construction/maintenance work
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Job related experience is required; minimum of two (2) to three (3) years
Ability to use and maintain the more common hand and power tools of the trade(s) to which assigned
Ability and willingness to learn a wide variety of tasks required in building and grounds maintenance work
Good human relation skills
Assists skilled maintenance workers with projects for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner
Repairs flooring, doors, frames and related door hardware
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
Repairs plumbing fixtures, drains, pipes and related equipment
Comprehends mechanical drawings, blueprints and other diagrams to facilitate repairs
Performs carpenter work
Replaces electrical equipment working up to and including 220 volts
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and use fingers, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
