Position Summary

Join a small but dedicated kitchen team at The Overlake School as a cashier. This role is part of a two-person team responsible for operating the Point of Sale (POS) system during breakfast, break, and lunch periods. In addition to cashiering, this position supports a variety of tasks including cleaning, stocking, inventory, and occasional kitchen assistance.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (occasional weekends)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Start Date: Fall 2024 (aligned with the 2024-25 academic year)

Important Note: Due to the academic calendar, this position includes extended unpaid breaks (approx. 8 weeks in summer and other school breaks). Financial planning is necessary to account for unpaid breaks.

Key Responsibilities

Operate the POS system to process student and staff food and beverage transactions (no cash handling)

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafeteria and service areas

Restock shelves and supplies as needed

Assist with inventory tracking and space organization

Support kitchen staff with basic prep or service tasks as needed

Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and guests

Compensation & Benefits

$19.50 - 21.50/hr.

Paid holidays, during the school year.

10 days accrued paid time off.

$5/mo. medical, no cost vision and dental insurance for employee, 35% coverage for dependents

Requirements

Qualifications

Basic computer skills and ability to learn POS systems

Valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit

Ability to work an 8-hour shift, often standing

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Willingness to multitask and assist in various areas of cafeteria operations

Respectful, professional demeanor

Tobacco-free while on campus
