The Custodian II position is responsible for cleaning buildings, office
facilities, and surrounding areas. The primary location for this
position is the main jail.
**Essential Functions:**
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this
classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge,
skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is
not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by
incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on the
departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent
by the supervisor.
- May plan, organize, supervise, and occasionally participate in the
work of custodial workers;
- Engages in cleaning of buildings, office facilities, and surrounding
areas;
- Trains and instructs custodial workers in proper methods and
procedures of custodial work and infection control techniques;
- Inspects completed work to ensure conformance to accepted standards;
- May supervise and participate in loading, unloading, and moving
supplies, equipment, and furniture;
- Orders and maintains an inventory of various custodial equipment and
supplies;
- Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports;
- Prepares cleaning and disinfectant solutions and ensures proper
disposal;
- May perform more difficult maintenance tasks;
- May inspect equipment to determine needs for new parts, repairs,
overhauls, and replacements;
- May distribute and collect keys and/or pagers;
- May be assigned to work in a jail or detention center.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Two (2) years of commercial, institutional, or industrial custodial
experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience as
determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.**
**OR:**
**One year of experience with Pima County as a Custodian or closely
related classification as determined by the department head at the time
of recruitment.**
**(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or
university may be substituted.)**
