POSITION SUMMARY: A Busser, or Food Runner, is in charge of setting and clearing tables at a dining establishment to provide a clean and tidy environment for restaurant patrons. Their duties include removing used dishes and re-setting silverware. The Busser is responsible for cleaning up the tables within the restaurant.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining assigned restaurant section including cleaning of that section
- Removing used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables after diners are done eating.
- Wiping up water spills, food stains and dirt from tables
- Replacing stained tablecloths
- Replacing cutlery and glassware in anticipation of new diners
- Standard side work duties such as rolling silverware, cleaning and maintaining equipment, etc.
- Formal table setting of China/Silverware/Glassware in preparation for a banquet function.
- Buffet setup as well as maintenance of beverage and food service
- Other duties as designated by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team.
- Excellent verbal communication
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- High energy levels
- Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
