Performs responsible semiskilled work on a variety of maintenance and repair projects; occasionally operates specialized equipment in connection with tasks; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.Duties include fixing machinery, plumbing, heating and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs with internal customers
Ability to identify the root cause of a mechanical problem and come up with a solution
Maintenance workers need to be able to manage their workload and complete tasks according to priority
Performing a variety of semiskilled manual labor tasks in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of parks and facilities, streets, treatment plants and storm drains.
Cleans buildings, dusts furniture; sweeps, mops and buffs floors; performs related custodial tasks; vacuums carpet; washes windows and screens; mows grass around buildings; takes out trash; unloads delivery trucks; orders custodial supplies.
Loads and unloads dirt, rocks, plants, etc.; helps plant trees and shrubs.
Applies pesticides; edges sidewalks; applies fertilizer.
Helps set up and break down tables, chairs, etc. for special events.
Assists with the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields.
Maintains rights-of-way; trims trees over sidewalks and streets; cleans parking lots; pulls weeds; and weed eats; trims bushes and hedges; mows grass in parks.
Assists with the installation, maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines including meters, valves and curb stops.
Makes line taps.
Performs manual labor in the upkeep of a water treatment plant; maintains plant grounds; performs custodial duties at treatment plant.
Operates a variety of equipment and hand tools in the performance of assigned tasks.
Responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the proper functioning and safety of a facility
Performs minor repairs like painting, drywall patching, and fixing doors while identifying issues requiring specialized technicians when necessary
Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
Performs routine maintenance on building and infrastructure systems
Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and amenities
Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance
Performs related tasks as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
NoneGeneral knowledge of the safe use, operation, and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned.
General knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the necessary safety precautions.
A broad knowledge of technical skills can help maintenance workers diagnose and fix problems with machinery
Skill in the use of equipment to which assigned.
Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
Ability to lift heavy articles.
Ability to read and write. Good physical condition.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers
Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
Ability to use hand tools and power tools
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Be familiar with safety protocols and regulations to avoid hazards and injuries

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; 0 to 3 years of related experience in performance of heavy manual work and some experience in the operation of automotive and mechanical equipment; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience which provides the necessary intermediate knowledge, skills, and abilities and other competencies necessary for the position

Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements:
Valid Florida Drivers License required
