Summary:
The Mexican American Catholic College seeks a reliable and detail-oriented weekend housekeeper/Light Maintenance worker to maintain cleanliness and order in designated campus buildings, including academic offices, common areas, and event spaces. This role includes some small maintenance-related work that may be needed during weekends and may also include occasional hospitality duties, such as setting up rooms for meetings, conferences, or special events. The ideal candidate will take pride in ensuring a clean, welcoming, and professional environment that is kept in good working conditions for students, staff, and visitors.
RequirementsPosition responsibilities include:
Housekeeping Duties Primary:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in offices, the Fiesta Room, and classrooms used during the weekends.
- Clean and restock restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal.
- Monitor and address (when possible) any light/minor maintenance repairs needed and report larger/bigger maintenance or repair needs.
- Follow established safety and sanitation protocols.
- Perform bi-monthly deep cleaning projects, especially offices.
Hospitality Duties (Occasional):
- Unlock rooms, set thermostats, set up and break down meeting rooms, conference spaces, or event venues when directed.
- Arrange tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment as directed.
- Provide light catering support (e.g., replenishing beverages, snacks, clearing dishes).
- Ensure hospitality areas are clean and presentable before and after events.
- Clean and ready dormitory rooms, when needed, immediately during a weekend.
Other Duties:
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Morals policy is mandatory.
- Responsible for adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of oneself and others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in performing duties, including, but not limited to, education records of students, donors names and gifts, and institutional financial details and information.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience :
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance, or hospitality experience.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Education :
- Sufficient education and literacy to identify and read product labels and for job-related needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
License and Credentials :
- Reliable transportation
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Basic customer service skills for interacting with faculty, staff, and guests.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
- Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of residents and/or guests.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other colleagues and departments.
