Position Summary:

The line cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes and guidelines set by the Culinary Manager. They will work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely food production. Line cooks are expected to maintain cleanliness and organization in their workstations, follow food safety and sanitation procedures, and contribute to the overall success of the kitchen team.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows recipe guidelines.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency.
  • Adheres to company guidelines
  • Practices proper product control and handling.
  • Maintain an exceptionally clean and organized station.
  • Thoroughly completes all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities
  • Ensure all cooler, dry, and freezer storage areas are organized and labeled with dates.
  • Proper Rotation of station food items, First In First Out, new containers nightly.
  • Continually monitor the cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment according to the clients cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as required.
Requirements

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • High school or culinary graduate.
  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • Completion of the City of Chicago Department of Public Health Certified Food Service Manager certification preferred, or ability to complete the certification within 90 days after the date of hire.

Language Skills
