Job DescriptionLead Food Service Worker
Basic Function and Responsibility:
Supervisesand participates in the routine tasks to prepare, serve and store vegetables,salads, sliced meats, baked goods and desserts. Cashier duties when necessary. Sets up, serves, and cleans up. Directs other food service workers or student employees assigned to workstation. Moderate to heavy lifting isnecessary.
Characteristic Duties:
- Under general supervision, performsroutine supportive tasks such as cutting, mixing, slicing, assembling, servingand storing food.
- Assumeslead responsibility in work areas as assigned.
- Transports food and supplies toservice areas and assembles and replenishes food as directed.
- Participatesin the cleaning, sanitation, and safety of assigned work areas and equipment asdirected.
- Asdirected, assists in training of food service workers and students assigned towork area.
- Mayassist in the bussing of trays in dining room.
- Assistsin the setup of work area as directed.
- Assistsin the execution of catered events as directed.
- Mayperform cashier duties as assigned.
- Maybe assigned other duties during slow periods such as semester breaks, holidaysand the summer.
- Performsall other reasonable duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
- Reportsto the Kitchen Manager in assigned unit, while receiving functional directionfrom unit chef and/or first cook.
Supervision Exercised:
- Assistin the monitoring of work by food service workers and other support personnel.
Hiring Range: $26.48/hr to $29.42/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
RequirementsQualifications:
- High School Diplomapreferred. Additional relevantexperience may substitute for education. NRA ServSafe certification and MRAAllergen certification preferred .
- Minimumof 2 year experience in a large volume food operation. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Effectively work in afast-paced operation with a diverse staff.
- Good human relations skills.
- Ability to operate basic kitchen equipment.
- Must be able to liftmoderately heavy objectsup to 50 poundson an ongoing basis.
